If you ever ordered from our shop in the past, or visited us in person you will be familiar with this favourite of ours ;-) It's our default drink at the farm and every package is shipped with fresh olive twigs and a note how to use the leafs for delicious tea.
And we've added the olive-leaf-tea to our shop!
This tea is a best kept secret when it comes to healthy drinks & intakes that are enjoyable. It's not only delicious (and more regional than black tea or green tea) but also packed with nutrients. This tea is produced 100% from the leafs of the olive tree, carefully dried (and in our case absolutely free of any nasty pesticides etc. and from our regenerative agriculture) and does not contain teein/caffeine. This way it is also perfect for a relaxing cup of tea late in the evening.
The magical ingredients of olive-leaf tea?
As the name suggests, this tea is made from the leaves of the olive tree. These contain a variety of valuable ingredients such as flavonoids, antioxidants and oleuropein. The latter is particularly valuable (and unusual in teas) as it has an anti-inflammatory and antihypertensive effect. Olive leaf tea can therefore not only help to strengthen the immune system, but also support the cardiovascular system.
The untreated leaves are gently dried in the shade, not blended. We separate them from their branches for easier preparation before use or despatch. The dried leaves break easily, but we do not cut or grind them: this allows you to choose the intensity at home (the coarser, the lighter the tea). In addition, you can see at first glance that our tea is completely free from fillers or impurities
Just try it out and be surprised by the mild, subtly sweet flavour!
The advantages of olife-leaf-tea
There are some good reasons to enjoy olive leaf tea:
Olive leaf tea is rich in antioxidants, which can help fight free radicals in the body and therefore reduce the risk of disease. The tea can also help to regulate blood sugar levels and thus reduce the risk of diabetes. In addition, olive leaf tea can also help to strengthen the immune system and thus reduce the risk of infections. Finally, olive leaf tea is also a great alternative to caffeinated drinks such as coffee or black tea, as it contains no teein.
Studies have amply demonstrated the healthy properties of olive tree products [see sources below], in particular the effectiveness of oleuropein in protecting against high blood pressure
Olive leaf tea is therefore not only a pleasure to drink, but also helps improve blood flow and prevent artery deposits.
Further study results indicate that olive leaf extracts can reduce the risk and symptoms of gout and arthritis.
Preparation
Bring the water to the boil and leave to cool slightly (to approx. 90/80 degrees).
Place 1-2 teaspoons of olive leaves in a cup and pour over the warm water.
Leave to infuse for 5-10 minutes so that it can develop its full flavour (depending on the infusion time, the taste is similar to a very mild white tea, or a slightly stronger green tea or a much stronger bitter tea with a longer infusion time)
Also try refining with honey or lemon to give it a special flavour.
